Similarities and Difference Between Hinduism and Buddhism.

Hinduism is about understanding the soul while Buddhism is about negating the soul. While Hinduism glorifies the understanding of Brahma and expunging the body of all distractions, Buddhism values achievement of a body without desires, also called nirvana.

Difference between Buddhism and Hinduism Buddhism believes in soul and matter and there is no place for God, besides this Hinduism considers God as the creator of the universe. In contrast, Buddhism denies the Vedas authority and dislikes animal sacrifice, while Hinduism believes in the authority of Vedas and attaches special significance to the Vedic rituals.

A third difference is that Hinduism thought that some animals were sacred while Buddhism had different ideas. Lastly, another difference was that over the years each religion existed, Buddhism spread among other countries and areas, while Hinduism generally stayed put and was contained mostly in India.

A critical question relating to Buddhism and Brahmanical Hinduism has dominated the intellectual thought, namely, how could Hinduism “Push away organised Buddhism from India?” or, “How did Hinduism succeed in absorbing Buddhism, as it was a great and wide spread popular religion, without the usual wars of religion which could disfigure the history of so many countries?”.

The real difference between Hinduism and Buddhism is that, the Hinduism look at supreme forces such as God, as a collection of natural forces while Buddhism saw Reality as becoming a being that will be supreme. Buddha was strong on his teachings of impermanence, for the anatman (no spirit).

Hinduism and Buddhism have different speeds of expansion. Hinduism had no real expansion over the years and basically remained stable where it originated despite the influence of Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Hindus appreciated and were attracted by the stress on intricate worship, which in turn turned others away from Hinduism.

Another distinction between Hinduism and Buddhism is their concepts of deity. Although Hinduism claims to be a monotheistic religion, worshiping only Brahma Nerguna, Hindus worship 33 million other gods that are aspects of Brahma Nerguna. Some of the most common gods or aspects are Ganesha, Vishnu, and Shiva.

There are many differences and similarities for example, Buddhism and Hinduism agree on karma, dharma, moksha and reincarnation. For instance they are different in the way that Buddhism rejects the priests of Hinduism, the formal rituals, and the caste system also, Buddha urged people to seek enlightenment through meditation.

Similarities and difference between Hinduism and Buddhism. Buddhism believes in the process of reincarnation based on deeds of the present life. Hinduism also believes that everyone is a part of an impersonal world and therefore, one's soul reincarnates into another body of any being, based on the deeds of the present life.

There are many differences between the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism just like there are many similarities, but here are a few. Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism, but there was no founder for Hinduism, it was just put together by combining many different religions and cultures.

Hinduism and Buddhism are religions very similar to Western monotheism. However, direct comparison, the difference between Buddhism and Hinduism is very big. The general tendency of both religions tends to be family and community, but Hinduism is sacrificing women and lower castes, and Buddhism is still more generally accepted.
